I recently got to play with both of the text to speech packages that are being developed. One is Talk To Me, and seems to be by Apple and maybe another company. The other, seems to be a direct port of the application MacInTalk. It has nine voices, speed control, pitch control; all of which TalkToMe did not have. Also, you could select text and have just that read with MacTalk. Since I don’t have these programs to distribute (and then it would be illegal I imagine), I have done the next best thing... I have recorded the two programs and encoded it in real audio 2.0 for 28.8 modems! (19.2 modems can get this also or even 2400bps modems!!) |
